On Friday the 25^th April 2008 Leeds Ahead held a celebration event at West Yorkshire Playhouse. A total of 300 people attended the event, drawn from the business community and Leeds Ahead's strategic and community partners.

The aim of the event was to congratulate all businesses members, supporters and sponsors for their contribution to date on the success of Leeds Ahead in supporting the city's "Narrowing the Gap" agenda and to encourage businesses not yet active to get involved through Leeds Ahead's membership scheme.

Amongst the guest speakers Rt Hon Hilary Benn, MP for Leeds Central and Secretary of State for the Environment said: "The business community has a great responsibility and opportunity to reach out and give more people the chance to share in the prosperity of Leeds. I congratulate those who are already doing so and would encourage others to think about getting involved."
